When the Authologie team were discussing World Book Day 2022, we started to reminisce about our childhood favourites! Books bring children so much joy and the memories of reading a good book lasts a lifetime, some even go on to influence us as adults and shape our futures.

Lor's favourite books...
We begin with Lor, our Editing Team Lead. Lor's mum was a librarian, so she was surrounded by books as a child and her love of reading clearly had an impact on her career choice! As a children's book editing professional who's worked with some of the best authors in the world, she certainly knows what does and doesn't work in the children's book market.
Lor loved Ramona the Brave by Beverly Cleary, The Famous Five by Enid Blyton, the Sweet Valley series, Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman and Flossie Teacake Wins the Lottery by Hunter Davies.

Helen's Favourite Books...
Helen is our Design and Marketing Team Lead. Helen loved fun, adventurous books as a child and she grew up to be a fun and adventurous adult! We just loved reflecting back on how the books we loved offers an insight into our personalities.
Helen loved the Choose Your Own Adventure books, Superfudge by Judy Blume, Roald Dahl's The Witches and Danny the Champion of the World, the Garfield books by Jim Davis, and Janet and Allen Allberg's The Jolly Postman.

Lucy's Favourite Books...
Lucy is our Illustration Team Lead. Lucy loved cute animal books, books about magic and anything funny. Her favourite author was Roald Dahl, his sense of humour drew her in, especially in the Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts books. She also loved the Hairy Maclary books and would spend hours looking at the illustrations, spotting fun details.
Lucy loved The Jolly Postman by Janet and Allen Allberg, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis, Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts books, Enid Blyton's The Faraway Tree, The BFG by Roald Dahl (in-fact, all of Roald Dahl's books!), Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy by Lynley Dodd and The Little Vampire by Angela Sommer-Bodenburg.

Have your favourite childhood books shaped who you are as an adult? Which books were your favourites and have they influenced your writing styles and illustration choices? Have they inspired your own careers? They definitely have ours! We'd love to know!
Happy World Book Day 2022!
